Black Medick is a low-growing, clover-like plant that plays an important role in soil health. As a legume, it fixes nitrogen into the soil, helping to naturally enrich and support other wildflowers. It produces small clusters of golden-yellow flowers that are loved by bees and provide useful early nectar. Its creeping habit helps stabilise the meadow surface without becoming invasive. As it matures, it produces distinctive black seed pods - hence its name.
